Link Locker is a personal link bookmarking tool consisting of a web application and a companion browser extension. This policy explains what data the extension collects, how it is used, and how it is stored.
Data the extension collects
- Page URL and title of the active tab, only at the moment you click "Save" or use the keyboard shortcut.
- Your API key and server URL, which you provide in the extension settings. Stored locally via
chrome.storage.sync. - Optional metadata you add manually: tags, collection, notes.
How the data is used
The URL, title, and any metadata you add are sent exclusively to the server you configured (default: https://links-locker.vercel.app) to save the link to your account. No data is sent to any other third party.
What we do NOT do
- We do not track your browsing activity.
- We do not run analytics, telemetry, or advertising code inside the extension.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
- We do not read page content beyond the URL and title of the tab you save.
Permissions and why we need them
activeTab— read the URL and title of the current tab when you save.storage— persist your API key and server URL across sessions.contextMenus— add a right-click menu item to save links.optional_host_permissions— connect to the Link Locker server you configure. Requested only after you enter a server URL in settings.
Storage
Your API key and server URL are stored via chrome.storage.sync, which Chrome syncs across your signed-in devices. Saved links are stored in the Link Locker backend (Supabase) associated with your account.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete saved links at any time from the Link Locker web app. Clearing the extension storage or uninstalling the extension removes your local API key. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.
